clementine pickle carman
2013, probably — april 13, 2026
Clementine Pickle Carman, mostly known as Pickle—but sometimes as Picky, Picklechu, Boots, Pringles, Pickleina, Pixy Sticks, Big Picks, etc.—transitioned from Earth angel to real angel on April 13, 2026.
We don’t know a lot about the first two or so years of her life, only that she was discovered abandoned in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, during an ice storm and moved from shelter (named Mocha) to rescue (named Zinfandel). There, her mom, who had decided on the name Pickle but hadn’t founded Pickle yet, sat at the opening of a crate and waited until Zinfandel crawled into her lap and became Pickle. She spent the first three days of her new life with her ears down and tail tucked, then crawled back into Mom’s lap and stayed there for eleven years, growing into the Pickle we all knew and loved.
Her early hobbies included finding small treasures—bottle cap, quarter, sock, chocolate chip (?!)—and hiding them in her crate until everyone got comfortable with her being free range. She got a job where Mom works as the Chief Happiness Officer. She was great at singing and zooming. She played fetch, even though she didn’t really understand the point. She did not care for riding in the car but got excited about arrival.
Pickle loved working on her Kong, doing puzzles, snuffling, looking at Christmas trees, and asking for different kinds of pets from each person she trusted. She could often be found completely inside blankets she’d formed into nests or atop any heating pad she could reach. She participated only in polite mischief, preferred dogs who were bigger than her, and was as sweet as can be (she once found a stray French fry and put it down just because Mom told her to!). Her favorite foods were rice from Gramma, dog food her mom had to cut into slices and microwave, and whatever Anchley was cooking.
She was charming and surprisingly brave when she had to be. She loved so much and was so loved that her heart got a little too big. Pickle accidentally taught her mom true selflessness, a thing Mom frankly never expected to learn. She will be missed every day, forever.
In addition to Mom, Pickle leaves behind: Mister Dad, Hollis, Lola, Anchley, Mister Scott, Gramma, and lots of other loved ones and admirers. She’s now met up with her Grampa, her cousins Winnie and Cooper, and her sister Lucy, whom we all hope is nice to her because they had very different temperaments.
If you have any memories, condolences, or nice things in general to say about Pickle, please leave them below.

i'm sorry for your loss. unfortunately, i didn't have any moments with pickle in real life, but i can say that i was so very pleased, every single time, to be included in the private insta stories featuring the one and only pickle. i will truly miss seeing those stories and her sweet face, front and center.

I only got to know Pickle from afar, but even so, her sheer personality and leaning into life and the people around her were apparent. Her love of snuggling into blankets was shared by Luna, and I hope they’re both playing with much bigger dogs (also a shared love for Luna) among the stars. I’m so sorry and sending you all love.

My memories of Pickle were beautifully merged with your unabashed love and dedication to her. i remember thinking, when i die i wish to be reincarnated as Pickle because i know she won the life lottery with you as her mom and guardian. Pickle's adorable aura was only equalled by the gleam in your eyes whenever you looked at her. so much love and support for you.

I will miss sweet Pickle. The girl took my breath every time I saw a pic of her, with her magical grinch feet and perfectly turned up nose. I loved her little quirks and I was so honored when she seemed to actually LIKE ME when we met. What a lucky girl she was to have you, Becky. Only you could’ve been good enough to be her mom. Sending love.

Beyond grateful for the many small joyful friend dinners and conversations over time, over chapters of life, that we all shared with the irrevocably curious and kind spirit named Pickle. Sending bountiful comfort and peace, love to you and yours.

What I’m learning from the obituary is that Pickle was even more delightful than I had already imagined, and that her Mom is in charge of writing my future obituary because it’s the best one I’ve ever read.
I’m going to echo something you once told me three year ago that I have carried in a special treasure box in my heart. “Dog heaven is the only heaven I believe in, and I am certain (s)he is there” ❤️

I’m so sorry to hear of Pickle’s passing. I know you were both soulmates and the loss of a loved one so dear is very difficult. I hope you feel the comfort of your loved ones and friends, and Pickle from the other side. She will always be with you. Sending you all of my love. ❤️

I didn't meet Pickle irl but the magic of her was that you didn't have to to be loved by her, and to love her back. What a presence. What embodiment of love and silliness and loyalty. This is such a specific kind of pain & I'm sending peace and strength to you all. And it may be too soon but some State Fair-esqe shirts in honor would be pretty dope. I'd buy at least 2. Love you so much!!

i’m just sitting here with the cursor blinking because i don’t know what to say and it feels too big. pickle, you have continued to delight me (all of us) for so many years and i hope you could feel you had a fan club somehow. i’m sure you were as sweet as your mom says, but i always hoped you were a little sassy too. you had delicate paws, a regal snout, and fluffy ears that we loved to watch blow in the a.c. on hot summer days. i would often squeal at your outfits, and believe you are the cutest dragon there ever was. i hope you’ll come visit your mom often; i know she’ll look for you everywhere.
i can’t imagine - sending you so much love. i’ll light a candle for her in the morning 🤍
